Steph Hickey Interview Counting Down to 2010 Olympics
Interview via www.mountainwatch.com/twentyten
Disciplines: Snowboard - boardercross
My name's Steph Hickey, I Spend my life chasing the snow; training, travelling and competing on the Boardercross world circuit representing Australia. I have not had a summer in seven years now but I'm addicted to the winters and the mountains. I'm a self funded athlete and with the help of my family and sponsors I am currently aiming and training to represent Australia at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Snowboarding has become my life, it gives me a sense of freedom and an outlet for my excessive energy and white line fever. I love to compete but also love big mountains and backcountry. I'm bit of a gypsy and love living out of my suitcase. I'm sometimes cheeky and outspoken and love a good laugh.
When I'm not on snow I work as a TV presenter and snow reporter. I have been an ambassador for Billabong for four years now, I'm really honored to be a part of the ambassador team amongst some really inspiring young females with huge goals in life, as well as an ambassador for Mt Buller. I grew up skiing and snowboarding at Mt Buller and still call it my home mountain to date.
