Billabong Girl’s Score Gold Again at Winter X Games

Billabong team rider Jenny Jones and Jamie Anderson took 1st and 2nd place in the slopestyle event at the Winter X Games this weekend at Aspen/Snowmass in Colorado.

Jones, who was riding on an injured knee that was swollen to the “size of a football,” chose her third run to handle business with back-to-back 540s (frontside and Cab) and a frontside 720—all high scoring tricks, made better because they were done back to back. When her score popped up, it was the winning one, and although both Jamie and Janna tried again to get the clean progressive runs they were looking for in round three, both sketched once again, leaving Jenny Jones in the top podium spot for another year in a row.
“It feels brilliant!,” said Jones when asked how it feels to take home her second X Games Gold medal in a row. “Especially since this year a lot of the top riders were able to compete like Janna Meyen-Weatherby and Jamie Anderson.”

Jamie Anderson won Gold medals in 2007 and 2008, but was injured last year. She was elated even though she couldn’t quite take the Gold for 2010. “It feels great, the course was super fun, we scored on weather, stoked that - Jenny rode super well and I am stoked I got a silver medal.”

Jenny won in 2009 and again this weekend was the first British person to ever win two Winter X Games Gold Medals and had a lot of pressure on her as the final closed in. “Before I dropped I knew that I had made the podium, which was my main goal,: Jones said when asked what was going through your head during her final run. “I just wanted to land the run that I was after which was front 5, cab 5, front 7.  I didn’t expect this run to win as Janna and Jamie were both after me and they both had very technical runs.”

ddquo; Can’t help but be happy for the two of them, it’s our 4th straight year winning Gold at X Games, so this is pretty amazing” says team manager Megan Villa. “Both Jamie and Jenny have now won 2 gold medals each!!”

Next up for both girls is the final stop on the Dew Tour at Mt. Snow in VT. Jamie is currently tied for first place and Jenny is in 3rd.
