Live from LA
Live from LA
It's 5am on Hollywood Boulevard and LA is about to wake up. The early morning quietness starting to move as if a giant anthill has just been stamped on. My dearest friend jet lag has chosen to hit me on this trip, so I thought I would take this extra awake time to give you a sneek peak of our trip so far.
For starters though, let me give you a little update on why we are here. Four girls from Europe have been given the amazing opportunity to fly to LA as VIP guests to the Billabong Design For Humanity event on July 25th to be held at the famous Hollywood Paramount studios. And I’ve been asked to make sure these girls have a blast while they are here! Absolutely no hesitation, I’m in, and swore no matter what that I would make the most of these 4 days in LA, and remember how much I love my job!! This is a quick snapshot of our first day.
Our Euro crew made up of fashion blogger Kasia Gorol, chief editor and creative director of ‘Fashion Salade’ Paola, and Billabong instore contest winners Aurélie and Audrey were all up early and ready for a truly Californian experience. First stop of the day was Huntington Beach where we met Billabong riders Keala Kennelly and local Courtney Conlogue for a surf lesson. The surf was fun, with ocean seals, pelicans and dolphins joining in on our morning session. Post surf, we then headed to casual Huntington Beach city for a quick lunch and to start our crazy shopping session. The pier was packed as the Surf City was getting ready for the US Open of Surfing which starts next week. The girls loved the buzz as well as the Surfing Walk of Fame and the cool vibe of the city. Time was running out though and next stop was Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade, a true shopping paradise. Four hours of shopping later, tired legs but happy faces, we hit the hay early so as to be ready for another massive day. California Dream? We are almost there…
