Hollywood VIP Treat
Today was always going to be one of those days when you knew life would be different after you had lived it. Different in a positive way, as most once-in-a-lifetime experiences tend to be. I guess this Design For Humanity event is what it is all about; getting so stoked by the venue, the show, the vibe and the art that you feel privileged just to have been a part of it.
But let’s start by the beginning. I don’t think I told you in the last update about our amazing hotel, the W Hollywood, a luxury hotel right by Hollywood Boulevard… yeah, it's as good, or maybe even better than it sounds! Not only does this hotel makes you feel like a princess, it’s also the perfect location to get caught up in the Hollywood’s mood. Oh and don't even get me started on the cinnamon ricotta pancakes for breakfast... It was after those pancakes that we headed up to Universal Studio Citywalk to visit the Billabong Store and to get a bit of an overview of the tourist scene. It was fun to get to see it, and although unfortunately we did not have enough time to visit the legendary Universal Studios, t we had plenty of other cool things to check out. Grauman’s Chinese theatre was our next stop, a must see in Hollywood. It is home to the historic Hollywood forecourt - featuring hand/footprints of iconic celebrities, major movie premieres and events. It's busy 365 days a year, but like all tourists we were caught up in the excitement of this legendary location looking for our favourite stars' foot and handprints. We also walked by the world famous Walk of Fame, Michael Jackson’s star definitely being the most popular one. We finished our little tourist tour with the obligatory and fun photo session by the Hollywood sign, in a ‘secret’ spot so not as busy as all the other areas.
But as good as that was, the best was about to come. We glammed up ready for our VIP night in the Paramount Studios, NY Street Backlot, at the Billabong Design for Humanity event. Saying that we had a blast wouldn't do the night justice, it was off the scale fun. We just loved every moment of it, from the amazing bikini fashion show to art exhibit, customized wetuit gallery auction, surfboard shaping room, 3 concert stages, DJ’s and so much more. It was kinda weird to think we were having this much fun and still helping out other humans. 100% of all ticket proceeds were donated to benefit the work of the Cultivate Foundation, a non profit group that helps fund initiatives that improve family farms, support sustainable agriculture and youth culinary education. The end of the night saw us enjoying the live performance of the Joy Formidable, followed by a few drinks with the Billabong surf crew and some crazy photos on the red carpet. By the time we made it back to the W hotel we had cameras full of super cool memories and stars in our eyes after such a magical night out. No doubt this is one of the best event Billabong has to offer. I'm just so stoked to have seen it live!!
