With spring around the corner all we want to say good to our chunky scarves, knits and thick wetsuits and get back into our colorful bikinis. Yet we still have to wait a longer, so to get you in the mood here is the perfect fresh and delicious recipe that will make the wait much more bearable: the Açaí Bowl.

If you never heard about açaí before (or did but don’t know exactly what it is) this is quite simple: açaí is the superfood you definitively need to try! This small berry is full of antioxidants and vitamins and will be perfect blended into your daily smoothies or juices. You will find it frozen or in powder from at your local organic store or on Internet (make sure it’s organic!). We used the powder version, but if you find frozen açaí berries that’s even better as they will bring more flavor to your preparations.

Açaí bowl is the ultimate healthy breakfast or post session treat that will leave you full of energy for the day. In this Açaí Bowl we used frozen berries and bananas, but feel free to use any of the fruits that you prefer. Just make sure they can be blend easily (apple or pear won’t make the job) and won’t make your smoothie consistency too runny. You want it thick enough to be able to be eaten with a spoon.

Oh and one more thing, due to its high content in vitamins don’t use more than one tablespoon of açaí in your preparation.

Now you are down with the Açaí Bowl here is the recipe:

Serves 2:

255 gr fresh or frozen fruits (we used 2 bananas and 145 gr of frozen berries)

2 tablespoons of açaí powder or frozen açaí berries

3 tablespoons coconut water (you can use fruit juice of your liking or simply water)

fresh fruits, desiccated coconut, goji berries, granola, buckwheat, or whatever you like for topping

Recipe is quite simple: mix in a blender the fruits, açaí and coconut water together.

Pour into a bowl, add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
