• An Active Day with team riders Justine Dupont and Teresa Bonvalot

Where the sea meets the land…

Be it surfing, traveling, getting engaged in a cause, doing art or music, our Billabong women always feel motivated, driven and inspired to move! From sea to land, their fast-paced life never stops.

When they are not using their surf capsule for a surf session, our muses get excited to wear their Billabong Active outfit, turn on their active mode and hit the track.

Our surfer girls don’t work out only because they are high-level athletes; they are first active women, aware of the importance to adopt a healthy lifestyle and adopt a positive mentality.

Because their lifestyle is truly inspiring, we wanted to introduce two of them, Justine Dupont & Teresa Bonvalot. Read on for a look into what is their typical active day looks like.

AN ACTIVE DAY WITH JUSTINE DUPONT

Tell us about the start of a typical day of training. What gives you motivation to get out of bed?

Having goals in my training program give me motivation to get out of the bed. I am also excited to wake up when I know the waves are supposed to be pumping.

To start the day though I usually do some yoga poses before having breakfast.

What is your favorite breakfast? Do you have any tips to share with the girls who want to keep strength or energy throughout the day?

I will eat a cup of season fruits with muesli, lemon and honey, it's fresh and super tasty. I always have a Red Bull can in my bag for when I need extra energy.

Apart from training and surfing, do you have any other physical activities that you are fond of?

I do hold breathing with a spearfishing club in Biarritz. It gives me confidence for big wave surfing. I have also started yoga classes this month and I really like it. My favorite "on land" activity though is running in the forest.

Music is a good motivator, what do you have on repeat?

I don't really listen to music, I love when it's quiet and you can hear the sound of the nature.

What kind of meals do you prefer while preparing for a competition and why it is so important?

I am careful with what I eat. I try to focus on eating organic food, and fresh fruits.

What kind of work out helps you to have a better surf?

I like skateboard training with my coach Nicolas Fernandez. It helps me to improve my aerial skills.

From the Billabong Active line, in which silhouette will you feel yourself and comfortable?

The Billabong Active leggings is definitely my favorite one for training sessions.

AN ACTIVE DAY WITH TERESA BONVALOT

Tell us about the start of a typical day of training. What gives you motivation to get out of bed?

Normally I wake up around 7 as I´m used to getting up early to go for a surf. I like the mornings to start, and this a confession, with a look on Instagram and Facebook. After that I'll do some simple stretching exercices before eating.

What is your favorite breakfast? Do you have any tips to share with the girls who want to keep strength or energy throughout the day?

For breakfast I usually seed bread toast and use avocado as substitute for butter. For a drink I really like orange juice. Alternatively I'll eat granola with yogurt and some dried fruits which gives me more energy throughout the day.

Apart from training and surfing, do you have any other physical activities that you are fond of?

My coach picks me up and we start a typical training day with a surf session at Guincho beach or Carcavelos. We could go also to Praia Grande or Ericeira spots when the waves are pumping.

What kind of meals do you prefer while preparing for a competition and why it is so important?

Then comes the lunch time. I´m not a radical vegan, but lately I do prefer vegetables rather than meat. I substitute meat for something that I like more such as lentils, beans, sweet potato, etc. When I compete I go for pastas to give me strength and additional energy.

What kind of work out helps you to have a better surf?

After each sessions I do some stretching at home and twice a week I have Pilates at Joaquim Chaves Saúde. I also do some surf specific training where we simulate surf posture and movements.
