Escape To The Maldivian Atolls With Marina Alonso
We couldn’t wait for our beautiful and creative muse Marina Alonso to take us to a new surf destination to share her journey through her personal eye. Better than a postcard, Marina sent us awe-inspiring photos about her escape to the Maldivian atolls. Scroll down to see her photos diary and hear what Marina has to say about her experience in Maldives.

What was your experience in the Maldives?
The Maldives trip was one to remember for sure. I wanted to experience the local culture -as opposed to the resort life- so we stayed in a tiny island of the Kaafu Atoll. The locals, their food and the marine life were incredible. I’m tracking down flights to head back! Uncrowded and remote, just like I was dreaming of, this journey gave me this sense of solitude and freedom. If you are looking for the same kind of peace place, the Maldivian atolls seemed like the right place for it.
What did you like the most about your trip?
The richness of the marine life in the atolls. It was fascinating to come across a pod of dolphins, turtles and reef sharks all together after getting your coffee. Dolphins there are really cheeky. I’ve got this beautiful memory of a morning at Sultans. Surfing through the monsoon was mesmerizing.
How was the surf?
It was really fun, experienced some lefts at Chickens where I was often the only one out on a log and eventually found my happy place at Ninjas after a couple boat trips. Beware of the sea urchins
