Jamie and Jenny dominate the slopes
Jenny Jones (UK) took a close second and Jamie Anderson (USA) took first place in the Dew Tour Winter winning the final competition at the Toyota Championship at Mount Snow this week. Proving that they are closing the gender gap the girls contest was held in icy difficult conditions and rode the same course as the Men’s competitors in an exciting showdown between Billabong’s two top team riders.
Jamie Anderson took an early lead, landing a clean first run. Coming fresh off her X-Games win, Jenny Jones took to the course, landing a nice Cab 3, Backside 3 and a perfectly executed frontside 7.
She scored an 83.75, just enough to land her in second place. With Dew Cup ratings open for both first and third, the ladies really stepped it up. Jamie went first and threw one of the best female slopestyle runs in Dew Tour history, scoring a record-breaking 96.25. Not only was she tail-pressing and completing picture perfect board-slides and front boards on the rails, but her jumps really set her above the field. Jamie landed a giant switch backside 540, and continued
on to a frontside 720, lofty backside 180 combo.
When the results came on the scoreboard Jamie had just clinched the Dew Cup. When asked about her win, Jamie said it was all about the girls cheering each other on and really supporting each other and having fun: "The course was a bit scary, but in really good shape today and the conditions were much better than they have been. Today was really fun and I’m excited for everyone".
Jamie is just coming off a silver medal at Winter X games and Jenny a Gold medal for the second time straight becoming the first British and European snowboarder to do so. It is another huge accomplishment for both of these girls, and Billabong congratulates them on a stellar year.
