Justin Becret Surfs Jaws
15-year-old French surfer Justin Becret has added yet another notch to his big wave belt by surfing Pe’ahi for the first time. After a winter season charging solid swells around his home in Hossegor, Becret flew out to Hawaii to take part in a Billabong Bloodlines camp.
Following the camp on Oahu, Becret was given the opportunity to surf Jaws by Maui local Tyler Larronde. “It was an impossible day to ever forget,” Becret said afterwards. “To walk down those cliffs with Tyler was so special. Even though it was a small day for Jaws, it was still emotional to catch a few waves at such an iconic place.”
Becret was quick to thank photographer Bastien Bonnarme for putting him in contact with the Maui locals, Justine Dupont for lending him her pink Rob Vaughan shaped 10’6” and Miky Picon for the loan of the inflatable vest.
“To share the water with a legend like Shane Dorian, and the experience with Ocean Macedo and Brodi Sale made it even more memorable,” said Becret. “Hopefully I’ll get the chance to catch more waves out there in the future.”
