Upsets are as Common as Barrels on Day 5 of the Billabong Pro
At the start of the day the swell was on the rise and the wind was offshore, and before anyone had settled down Gabriel Medina had fallen from the sky and into a deep green pit to start Round 3 of the Billabong Pro Rio. And although the local boy looked well acquainted with the shifty peaks, Travis Logie found a brilliant diamond in the rough to upset Gabriel with only seconds on the clock.
The day continued with many action packed heats and upsets all over. Look below for photos and more the heat-by-heat stories.
With the swell sticking around all signs point to an early start tomorrow morning, so tune in at 7:00 am BST, 6:00 am EST and 3:00 am PST for the morning show on the ASP website.
