Day 1 in Photos | 2018 Corona Open J-Bay

The 2018 Corona Open J-Bay just stated today, but the drama has already begun.

Day one began with surfing icon, Joel Parkinson, announcing that he will be hanging up the jersey & retiring from the CT after this December's Billabong Pipe Masters. This isn't the end for the former World Champ, 3x Triple Crown Champ, 3x Bells Champ, & Pipe Master - but rather a new beginning as adventure awaits him in his next chapter.

The action moved to the water after Parko's announcement, as Griffin Colapinto, Frederico Morais, & Joel Parkinson all managed to come out on top of their first round heats - moving straight into Round 3.

After a full day of action, here are some of our favorite shots from Rounds 1 & 2.

The forecast is looking good for the upcoming week, so stay tuned for more from Jeffrey's Bay.
